I think this should be allowed if the party agrees to it.Now still respecting the laws, the main husband/wife should legally be married & others just spiritually w/o legal documents attached. Now if the husband has a will & wants to put the other wives names in it as benificiaries besides the wife that's up to him, or equally dividing things. I donot know how'd they do this. As for the FLDS, & underage, I think the woman should be 21 if she wants to marry. 18 is still too young though she's an adult.

I am not a polygamist and I am a member of the mainstream LDS church. Now that the disclaimers are out....

My problem with polygamy being illegal is this: We have lots of people in the public eye who cheat on their spouses or have lots of children with lots of women and that is considered the social norm. But when you have a man who "marries" three women and has children with those women it is a crime.

My assumption is that television only portrays the sensational plural marriages such as those that have occurred with underage girls not those in towns such as Centennial Park where the women must give consent. When the public is shown women who have their hair two feet high wearing identical prairie dresses they see the Islamic burqa in American form.

As long as the marriages are consensual then I do not see any problems. Unfortunately for you the Warren Jeffs of the world will be the ones on the evening news.

I think it is great that the plural communities are standing up for rights that should be theirs.
